Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students have only begun to discover books that capture their imaginations. Please help me help them with their fantastic journey through literature.
My students are good kids, and they are eager to learn.
I had one student that I will see next year ask me what type of books he will be reading next year because he was tired of reading "baby" books. I assured him that in the 7th Grade, he will have to step his reading game up. A smile came over his face, and I knew I had him on the right path.
I could go on and on with individual stories about my eager learners, but I won't. I will just want you to know that if you do decide to help, you will be helping all my eager learners. Capturing students imagination while they are young is important. Once you do, step back and watch them grown into future leaders. For example, I told them I needed a title for this project, and they came up with a nice catch phrase on the spot, #BucksForBooks...
Reading is like a passport for a child to travel as far as their imagination will take them. Please help my students collect a few stamps in their booklet. The Pearl & The Giver are excellent books with a myriad of themes, characters, and life lessons for my students to learn from.
Students need to see a world outside their own in order to gain better perspective about life as well as their future aspirations.
I teach 7th Grade Language Arts, and I select books that push my students to think beyond their years. It is my hope that they will be exposed to similar literature in the future and be able to comprehend the material with ease. Please help me continue to do that...
