Eager Readers Need Books to Feed Their Hunger for Knowledge
My students need books in a variety of grade levels to accommodate the varying reading levels in my classroom.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. H.'s classroom raised $555

My Students
I work in a Title 1 school, which means that 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch everyday. We also have a free food pantry once a month to accommodate our parents facing financial hardships. The majority of our students are refugees from around the world, including Africa, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.
I teach fifth grade, however, many of my students are not at grade level, due to language barriers.
The vast majority of my students are bilingual or trilingual. Many have been exposed to severe trauma due to the wars in their homelands. This, of course, further impacts their ability to learn. Despite this, my students come to school eager to learn and love becoming better readers.
My Project
The majority of my students come from around the world and are learning to read in English in their second or third language. Some of these children have never been to school before entering the U.S.A. Therefore, I have readers at all different reading levels. These books will be able to accommodate a variety of reading levels in my classroom.
These books will help students to have engaging books to read while in guided reading groups with me.
We all know that reading is more interesting when we have engaging books to read! Not only will these books help to teach reading, but they will also help my students to get a grasp on our culture here in the U.S.
