This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you know what it's like to have access to a variety of interesting books to read? My students unfortunately do not. They are eager to read but have a limited quantity of books to choose from.

The majority of my students come from low-income families.

They are English Language Learners which means English is their second language. That is one of the reasons why it so important that they maintain an interest in reading. The school is a Title 1 school with a large amount of English Language Learners. My students are eager to read but are limited to the books that I can provide for them in our classroom.

My Project

Having a variety of books available for my students will benefit them greatly. I allow my students to take books home to read because most of them do not have grade-level reading books at home. For most of their families buying books is a luxury, so having a library in my classroom with interesting books for them to choose from will create an atmosphere of eager readers in my classroom. By having reading books that align with the curriculum they are learning, my students will enhance their learning experience.

Having new books in our class library will make a difference in my classroom because my students are in need of new books that will enhance their reading experience.

They enjoy and get excited when they see new books in the classroom. Having new books will help my students with their reading fluency, comprehension, and writing skills.
