Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach Pre-K 4 at a charter school. Some of my children have never held a book or even been read to. Having a classroom library filled with books that they can pick up, touch, and explore, even if they can’t read yet, is the beginning of literacy.
I want them to be able to freely come and choose a book to read or have read to them, and not have to wait for one day a week to go to the school library.
Having access to books at an early age can create a love of reading and a strong literacy background.
