Eager Beaver Future Doctors Need A Pig!

My students need fetal pigs for the Anatomy and physiology course. My second class needs Chemistry experiments so they can experience what they are learning.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are going to a school that was first a middle school and just recently became a high school. they don't have any materials related to high school courses. They have a desire to experience all the lessons that other high school students experience. they want hands on experience!

My students are in an area that is surrounded by crime.

They must witness events that take place in the neighborhood that some adults would not be able to handle. many of my students have lost close relatives and even parents to violence and other issues related to poverty. We have a high pregnancy rate, yet a really good attendance rate. Our students love coming into the building. We are a family and they know it. They are safe here. We have very few altercations in our building and a very supportive parent population. No school deserves the support more than Benjamin Franklin!

My Project

With the fetal pigs I can show my students how animals play a role in what we know about the human body. They can experience the lesson not just on paper but hands on. the students can practice using proper dissection equipment and get a feel for the world of surgery. they can also practice great lab safety procedures. In Chemistry they will use the experiments to further help them understand the role chemistry play in our everyday world.

The broader impact these projects will have on my students is the excitement of learning.

they will learn that it's more than what you read in the textbook. it will make learning come alive for them. these students have never had the experience of real live learning.
