Eager 2nd Grade Readers Need More Books!

My students need a variety of more just right books to build reading skills!

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Wolfson's classroom raised $490

My Students

In my classroom, our motto is "We stick together, shine on friends, and show grit!" My students amaze me every day with their grit and enthusiasm for learning. They work hard and have a positive attitude, even when it's tough. They are caring and compassionate kids who need more books!

I teach 2nd grade at an urban, public elementary school.

My students are all English Language Learners who come from a diverse range of cultures. All of the students at our school receive free or reduced lunch. Almost all of my students are reading below grade level expectations. They are all enthusiastic about reading and eager to make progress towards their reading goals.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of high interest lower level books. My students will use these materials every day during our Reading Workshop. During this time, students read Just Right books on their own. These are books that are at student's independent level and that will help them to develop fluency and comprehension skills. My students are almost all reading below where they should be, and they need more books to choose that are at their Just Right levels. The books donated through this project will help me to ensure that all of my scholars have the books they need, at their level. These materials are so crucial to helping my students build stronger reading skills and work towards reaching grade level standards.

Every day, as part of our school chant, we sing, "with more knowledge, we'll go to college." My scholars are setting themselves on the path towards college.

They are headed in the right direction, and they need your help in donating these books. Please help my eager readers achieve their goals and reach their target reading levels by donating books for them to use during independent reading time.
