My students need an e-print, wireless, color, multi-function printer and ink to use in class now that our school is BYOD enabled and we are increasing the use of technology.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students want to be swept away and land safely in a world filled with color. We are all clicking our red sparkly shoes together chanting, "There's no world without color, there's no world without color, there's no world without color!" We're hoping our dreams for color printing will come true.
My students are bright, energetic, creative, inspiring middle school students.
They represent a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds. Some of my students have recently joined our community from other countries and do not speak English in their homes with their families. Some of these students are learning to speak English for the first time in their lives as middle school students.
Over 70% of my students receive free or reduced lunch based on their family's income level. However, based on the struggles that many of the students face at home, they know that they are completely supported by their family at school. The teachers, staff, and administration work together with the students, their families, and the members of the community to continuously improve the students' lives.
With all of our diversity, my students and I love to learn from each other and are motivated to achieve as much as we can during our limited time together.
My Project
Can you imagine a life without color? Can you imagine being a creative sixth, seventh, or eighth grade student in a science, technology, engineering, and math class and being told that you can only dream in black and white? I can't and neither can my students!
We are ready to e-dream in color with our own devices! We are ready to embrace the technology of the 21st century! We are ready to share our work with our school community by printing our projects in color!
Each year my students start the school year by creating a cover page for their engineering and math notebooks. The students are asked to create covers which tie in their personalities with the subject area of the class. After the students present their designs to the class, the students print out their creations for their folders. This year's class has decided that they have had enough with black-and-white copies. They are ready for color!
Students of today are spending more and more time being creative on the computer, but they still like tangible results.
Black-and-white copies are no longer acceptable! This generation deserves the option to e-print all of their e-dreams and e-creations in color.
This multi-function printer will be used for all of my math and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) elective students. All of my students will benefit directly from this device throughout the entire school year.
