Help me give my students the ability to explore math outside a textbook. This will help bridge learning gaps and increase engagement. The extra straps will ensure that multiple students can hygienically take turns using the headset.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are active and curious high schoolers with special needs who thrive when learning is hands-on and engaging. All of my students are marginalized in an already classified at risk population. In my special education math classroom, I strive to make math relatable in order to help build student self-efficacy. That’s why I am seeking a virtual reality headset and five extra straps to bring math concepts to life in an interactive and immersive way!
My students love to learn math content through gamification!
Imagine closing the education divide by providing an exclusive opportunity for students to walk through a 3D coordinate plane, explore geometric transformations in real-time, or take a virtual field trip in an interactive setting. Students can even engage with integrative content that includes science, history, and onsite career exploration. Bringing VR technology to the classroom will help bridge learning gaps, increase engagement, and build confidence in math.
