Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a diverse community in Queens, NY. They come from a huge variety of economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. We have many ENL students who are new English-language speakers and learners. Over 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school works hand-in-hand with the community to ensure the highest quality education for all students who attend here.
We have a focus on service learning and global conservation, where the students and staff take part in fundraising and creating awareness about issues within the community and around the world. We make global partnerships and teach important citizenship values to our students through these worldwide connections.
My Project
Parlay Ideas is a total game changer. This website allows for digital discussions and roundtables, allowing students to think critically and share their ideas with one another in through a socratic roundtable discussion.
Students learn best through discussion and discourse with one another and Parlay Ideas is the perfect tech tool to elevate these student-let conversations.
Students can engage in conversations using the anonymous tool, which enables each student to focus on the content of the post, not the person who posted it.
For remote learning, the online roundtable was the perfect tool to help keep each student accountable, while also taking turns and practicing digital citizenship.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
