Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need 30 annual subscriptions to Scholastic's DynaMath magazine. Do you remember how dreary math lessons can be? Not with DynaMath. DynaMath makes math lessons meaningful, accessible and fun.
I work at a school in South Florida where I teach math to over 100 students.
Most of our students come from low-income households. Without supplemental materials, math can be a difficult subject to teach. Geometry and algebra seem disconnected from real life.
My Project
When you are a child real life is all about movies, dinosaurs, video games, animals, pop music, TV shows et cetera. Those are the kind of themes that are featured in DynaMath magazine. How much money do the biggest movie stars make? How do they spend that money? Would you do the same? What rate do crocodiles lose their teeth at, and why? How would you organize an orphanage for baby elephants? How would you raise money for the orphanage? How many enclosures would you need? I think you can see now how an annual subscription to DynaMath would liven up any math classroom.
DynaMath takes dull math lessons and makes them interesting, relevant and enjoyable.
A subscription of 30 copies would be enough for the entire sixth grade. Won't you please help my students?
