DynaMath for Dynamic 5th Graders

My students need 26 copies of Scholastic DynaMath Magazine.

This project is fully funded

I teach a very diverse group of amazing 5th graders in North Carolina. Our school has a high percentage of at risk students; approximately 75% or more of our students are on free or reduced lunch, with that number rising steadily. We also have a large ESOL population.

Problem solving is a skill every student needs help developing. Many students become confused over the wording of math problems, especially on the state tests.

My students would benefit from Scholastic DynaMath Magazine! Their website states that the magazine includes "nonfiction and fiction-based exercises that help teach math, math articles that connect learning to the real world, and interactive activities to get kids excited about numbers!" I've seen this to be true with students who have used DynaMath in the past.

Math skills need to be taught and related to everyday life. Many students struggle to believe the relationship between math and real life. This magazine would allow my students to further their exploration of math skills and relate them to real world experiences.
