My Project

Elementary math is not your parents' math anymore! The math curriculum has definitely changed over the past decade or so; incorporating basic math facts with more rigorous lessons and a requirement to approach math in a more interactive and explorative way.

Our students do their best when they make real-life connections to the content and Scholastic's math magazine, Dynamath, will give them ample opportunities to do that!

No more math problems presenting someone buying 200 watermelons for no reason! Instead, Dynamath uses current events to present math problems that make sense to students because it is relative to their own experiences or interests. In addition, the word problems are leveled for readers of different abilities which is so important, and the games and interactive activities give students a variety of ways to practice what they've learned.

Dynamath will be an effective partner to our current math curriculum. All articles and activities are aligned to California's common core math standards, while providing math practice using high-interest, non-fiction articles that cross all subjects. There are seemingly endless ways in which to use this math magazine - as part of a thematic math project, a math Do Now exercise, as homework, or all of the above! The world (or Dynamath) is our math oyster!
