My Students

Our school is a dual language school dedicated to bridging the Deaf and hearing communities in New York City. Our PK-8th-grade students come from every borough of NYC. The majority are Children of Deaf Adults (CODAs). We offer the LEAST RESTRICTIVE environment for Deaf students in the NYC DOE.

Our Reggio-Emilia inspired Pre-K program was established more than two decades ago, and our master teachers guide our youngest students to become emotionally-responsive observers of themselves, the world, and others.

My Project

Part of each school day includes time set aside for students to write down their homework. In the past, my class has used a notebook to record each day’s homework assignment. They record the date, subject, and assignment by hand. Because there is so much to write, it takes some students a long time. Students often omit important information, accidentally skip pages, and become disorganized. This year to shorten the time this usually takes and to keep students on track, I’d like to make each student a daily planner where the dates and subject areas are already printed on each page. To do this, I would need a binding machine, combs, and lots of paper to make a planner for every student.
