Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are a diverse and vibrant group of learners who thrive when given the chance to express themselves creatively. Many face daily challenges outside of school that impact their emotional well-being, making it even more important to provide outlets for self-expression and stress relief during the school day.

Tie-dye is more than just a fun art project—it’s a therapeutic experience.

This project will provide students with tie-dye kits, bandanas, gloves, aprons, and workspace supplies. . As they twist, fold, and color fabric, they will engage in mindful movement, boost their confidence, and create something they can be proud of and wear.

The process of tie-dye is calming and rhythmic, making it an ideal medium for students who struggle with anxiety, trauma, or focus. Students will have the opportunity to explore color theory, experiment with technique, and reflect on how art helps process emotions. We will also build community by sharing our creations and the stories behind them in a safe, supportive environment.
