Dyad Reading

My Students

The school I teach in falls on the cusp of a Title I school, so we aren't eligible for extra funding. Our students work hard. They are resilient and take on challenges boldly. We have 50% minorities, many who speak English as their second language. They work so hard and make drastic changes from the beginning of the school year to the end. Since the shutdown in 2020, our students are struggling with reading. Many of my third grade students are on a Kindergarten level. I would love to have books for the students based on Dyad reading strategies. Students are paired with others based on reading

This means I need multiple books and a least 2 copies of each one.

Please help my third graders improve their reading skills!

We also need magnet sets for our Science units. This unit is hands on and I don’t have any for the students to use.

My Project

Because of Covid19, many students in my school are 2-3 grade levels behind in their reading. It has been hard to teach third graders who are all on such different reading levels. Having a Dyad library will ensure that students will improve in their reading and help them get caught up to grade level. Lower level students are paired with higher level students and they read the same book aloud. This strategy helps low readers who haven’t heard the way words are said or what they look like, to increase their phonics,”, site words, and fluency.
