"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life," Pablo Picasso once said, which applies to students that I teach, who bring into class, dust from their lives that needs to be shaken off, for the time they spend in art.
My students come from inner city challenges in a low-income community.
We have a wonderful mix of students of various needs, with students with Learning Disabilities, and with Autism, in a K-8 setting. All my students are eager to learn in art, and many times we don't have enough supplies to do what I would like to teach in class. I feel bad when I have to tell students that we can't do certain projects because the limit on funds.
My Project
With these basic supplies, glue and construction paper, my students will be able to do more projects that will enhance their learning and expression in art. I won't have to tell my students that because of the budget we can't do some projects that would excite and inspire them. My students share with me an enthusiasm for art and learning, and with this funding students will be able to explore their creativity, and wash the dust off their soul.
This project funding is vital to the continuation of our art program in an effective manner.
This project will impact every student that comes into my classroom for art. Each student is eager to come and show their expression through their creativity. Please help me to help my students in broadening their opportunities in art.
