This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Your generous donation to my bilingual classroom will support a dual language program in a Title One school. I have the privilege of teaching a group of eager, dual-language students who are navigating the complexities of becoming bilingual and biliterate. Some, alongside their loved ones, have overcome significant obstacles to reach the United States.
Creating an environment where my students feel loved, represented, supported, valued, and empowered is essential.
The headphones are intended for students to use during learning centers. Students often use devices for assessments, including programs like i-Ready. With headphones, they can focus quietly and hear the program clearly, whether it's reading, phonics, or math without disturbing others in the classroom.
The cultural Spanish books will enrich our classroom library, providing resources that students can use in class and borrow to take home. The class supplies are to be added to a supply corner in the classroom that is accessible to students who need additional materials.
The dry-erase boards are for small group instruction, during foundational lessons, math practice, and word study.
The laminating sheets are for laminating resources, including scaffolds, anchor charts, culturally relevant materials, class decorations (like inspirational quotes), and vocabulary words with images and definitions for word walls.
Students participate in various assessments to track their language development in both Spanish and English, as well as their progress in math, literacy, and reading. Privacy boards will enhance data accuracy by preventing students from viewing their peers' answers.
Spanish maps and the globe will be used for social studies lessons.
