My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to believe in themselves the way I do. The students in my classroom are comprised of general education students, as well as students with various learning and emotional disabilities. On top of educational and emotional disabilities, many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.
With that being said, how can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?
The typical student in my class reads below grade level and many struggles with basic phonics and number sense. Their desire to achieve success in school is the driving force behind our desire to give them the world.
My Project
With social distancing needing to be maintained, all of our students no longer have the opportunity to sit at a dry erase table. Our students truly become more engaged in the lessons when it becomes more memorable. What could be more memorable than being allowed to write on the table! Help bring our students this very simple tool that will increase their engagement in lessons. Increased engagement leads to more successful learning outcomes.
Not only will this really awesome table increase our students engagement and learning, but it will help us ensure that our students are maintaining the appropriate social distance required to be safe.
