My Students
My AMAZING students typically start a lesson with whole-group introduction and move into small-group. They benefit most when we are able to break into small groups for differentiated instruction at their individual level. My students love to collaborate and use hands-on learning. I teach 2 segments of math, so the dry erase table top would allow my students a fun, active way to practice math problems while in small-group. This method would be such a better alternative to the small whiteboards that limit work size area.
My Project
My students would use this table daily for small-group work through a center rotation. Students will be able to collaborate together. Currently, I only have a rectangle table and I have to use small whiteboards, but the kidney shaped table would allow me to have more students in a small group due to the increase in surface area. Math is a subject area that needs practice of working out problems to perfect it. My students LOVE using whiteboards, and I will love having a large space area to use manipulatives and dry-erase markers to solve problems. I will also save so much time not having to pass out and take up the mini whiteboards we currently have.
