This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My scholars are on a mission to learn! They come to school each day ready to focus, try new things, and grow their brains. They bring with them a wealth of cultural and linguistic experiences, making our school a truly unique and wonderful place.

We maintain a rigorous focus on both mathematics and literacy and have a school-wide goal of providing all students with access to complex, grade-level texts.

Nestled in the heart of southwest Denver, we work day in and day out to overcome the reality of educational inequity and close the achievement gap, because we know our students deserve nothing but the best.

My scholars are curious, creative, intelligent, charismatic little humans who are so very excited to learn new things. I am constantly inspired by this group of future leaders.

My Project

The main item in this project is a set of reusable dry erase pockets, which will be used across three second grade classrooms! Our new math curriculum is designed to use these pockets in nearly every lesson, as they allow students to slide in a worksheet or template and then engage in repeated practice without wasting multiple sheets of paper. We'll even be able to use the pockets during our literacy intervention block!

These heavy duty, reusable dry erase pockets will allow our scholars to engage with rigorous mathematical concepts on a daily basis, hopefully helping to inspire a future generation of mathematicians.

The additional items in the project -- laminating pouches, library pockets, and a collection of growth mindset posters -- will put the finishing touches on our classroom space, which has been carefully designed to foster a love of perseverance and learning.
