Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our whiteboards are such a big part of our school day. We write, we share, we check our work, we express ourselves. Yes, it's quick, and we stay engaged because we are participating in our learning.
Dry erase markers are the most important tool in our classroom.
My students use them so much, they run out of ink very quickly. While we are a low-income school, we are working hard at our learning. Writing on individual white boards with dry erase markers connects us. Our answers are written on the boards, our teacher can spot right away, who is having problems, or doesn't understand. We don't waste paper, and we don't waste time. It makes learning fun.
My Project
We are always asked to write our thoughts about parts in a story. As we write, we are thinking. The boards go up, and our class reads each others' thoughts. It creates so much conversation. We also use them to answer quiz questions. We check each others' work all the time with whiteboards. Our class is lively, and everyone is involved. Not only do we learn, we learn about each other. We couldn't live without our whiteboards and pens. Please help us continue having this activity b y providing 17 packs of markers for us to use.
Participation in learning is absolutely necessary.
Our students are often labeled unmotivated, because they are bored and passive. Whiteboards and pens keep them involved in their learning. Tests scores have improved 15% since we began using them. They work for our kids. Please help us continue to help our kids.
