This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are motivated, inspired, and eager to learn. A majority of my students are African-American, living in a large, urban area. I teach in a public school in Michigan. This area is filled with predominately working-class families striving to give their children the best educational opportunities available. Our school offers many extra-curriculum activities for the students. Some activities are track, golf, basketball, and soccer. Despite some challenges, my students come to school daily, prepared, and eager to learn new math skills in our classroom.
My Project
My students need dry erase markers and erasers to use in our Math classroom. Your help is needed! Our district has adopted the new Eureka Math curriculum. This challenging, but rewarding curriculum works best when students and teachers have the tools required to fully implement the program with fidelity. Having dry erase markers and erasers will allow my students to solve word problems, reason and compute their answers using individual white boards. My students will be able to display their Math work as a large group. I will be able to give immediate feedback when students utilize their whiteboards in class.
