My students need dry erase markers and erasers for use with our student dry erase boards.

Dry erase student boards are a great tool- if you have markers for them! I teach kindergarten in a high-need elementary/middle school. I have 23 students this year.
Kindergarten students learn best with a hands-on approach. Typical 5-year olds don't sit still for long, so they will learn much better if they are directly involved in the lesson. I have been given a wonderful resource for my class- a set of dry erase student boards. These boards have lines on the bottom for practicing letters and words, and a space at the top for pictures or symbols. I have enough boards for each child to have one. We use these boards to learn how to write letters, sight words, and sentences. They are also perfect for math lessons. We can practice writing numbers, addition sentences, or shapes. When every student has a board, I can monitor each child's learning with just a glance around at the boards. I also can make sure that every child is engaged and on task. It is the perfect tool for group learning- and so much fun for the students!
I have plenty of boards for everyone- but the boards are useless without markers. Dry erase markers are very expensive. With daily use, they also usually don't last through the year. If I am lucky, I will get a 4-pack of markers and 1 eraser at the beginning of the year from my school. If I want more than that, it is up to me to provide them. I typically run out of markers half way through the year. The boards go back into the closet until I can get more markers during the summer back-to-school sales. It would be wonderful if I could get a class set of markers and erasers. We could use our boards for group lessons, small group activities, and so many other activities.
If you donate to this project, you will put the learning back where it belongs, in my students' hands. I would be able to make the most of the resources I have to make class activities fun and meaningful. I would be able to reach every child and give each one the support that he or she needs, because I would constantly get to see students' strengths and weaknesses. If each child is working on a board, I will get a response from every child instead of just the one I call on. What a powerful teaching tool that would be! My students and I would truly appreciate your help to make this happen.
