My students need hand drums, rhythm sticks, and world music materials.
This project expired on January 11, 2015.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
In my classroom, I open up a new world to my students. We visit Africa, China, Japan, Europe, and all from the comfort of our music classroom. We play instruments, sing, listen, dance, and appreciate the value in other cultures.
My students are brilliant musicians in an impoverished area.
Our school district is incapable of providing the funds to encourage and grow this budding musical interest and talent. My students are outgoing, creative, and interested in learning everything! My school is interested in providing them the materials, but simply can't with everything else they need to fund.
I am requesting rhythm sticks, maracas, hand drums, and a world music curriculum. Right now, our sticks are splintering and we only have 8 hand drums, not nearly enough for an entire class. Our maracas are also breaking, and we don't have enough for all students to use them. If we were to get the materials requested, my students would have instruments that weren't splintering, and enough drums for everyone to have one! In addition to that, we would be able to spend more time in different cultures, learning how different cultures use music, rather than trying to figure out how to split instruments up for the class.
This will change the lives of the students who receive the materials.
Students will have more valuable experiences inside of school, and I will be able to better support their growing musical natures!!!
