Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a STEM magnet middle school in Indiana. This means that my students chose to come to our school to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

My 7th and 8th graders come from all around the city to form a community where we focus on our core values of rigor, community, relationships, and drive.

My students come from diverse cultures and experiences, and some overcome significant obstacles to succeed at our school. In their two short years with us, they come in as young pre-teens and develop into teenagers prepared to flourish in high school!

My Project

I am requesting a hand drum and an ocean drum for my students to use as part of our mindfulness drum circles. We do this as a way to soothe and focus our sometimes overly-stimulated middle school brains. I am also requesting rolls of iron-on vinyl for our Student Voices group to use with our Cricut machine and hot press to create individualized celebratory t-shirts for their peers!

We would love to celebrate students' achievements and growth both academically and socially.
