Drumroll Please: Enhancing Our Choir With A New Drum Set
Help me give my students a new drum set to elevate our High School choir's performances, boost their engagement, and create unforgettable musical experiences.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our high school choir is a dynamic and enthusiastic ensemble poised to elevate their performances through the integration of a drum set. This project aims to equip our choir with a high-quality drum set, which will significantly enhance our ability to perform across a range of musical genres.
Incorporating a drum set into our choral repertoire will provide essential rhythmic support, which is fundamental for genres such as musical theater, pop, gospel, and jazz standards.
These styles require a robust rhythmic foundation to capture their authentic essence. By integrating percussion, students will engage more deeply with these genres, cultivating a comprehensive musical skill set that includes rhythmic precision and dynamic expression.
The addition of a drum set will serve as a catalyst for increased student engagement and exploration of diverse musical styles. It will foster a deeper understanding of rhythm and timing, essential components for mastering the targeted genres. Furthermore, the opportunity to work with percussion instruments will enhance students’ collaborative skills and broaden their musical competencies.
Our choir is composed of a diverse group of dedicated students who bring unique perspectives and voices to our performances. Many of them come from backgrounds with limited access to musical resources, yet they exhibit an exceptional level of enthusiasm and a strong commitment to their musical development. With your support, we can provide my THS choir students with a drum set that will not only enhance their current performances but also inspire them to reach new levels of musical achievement. Together, we can empower our students to excel in their artistic endeavors and embody our mission of "Changing Lives Through the Power of Music."
