Children are born with an innate connection to music. After teaching elementary music for 23 years, I believe that music education is not only about learning notes and rhythms but also about fostering a deep-seated joy of learning that can last a lifetime. With this in mind, please help me start DRUMMING UP THE JOY with two new tubano drums for my elementary music room.
My nearly 600 students are bright, lively, fun-loving, and a joy to be around.
Our kindergarten through fourth grade school is located in a rapidly growing corner of Arkansas. Our school is known for the family and community spirit we possess. Our students and parents even helped me create a musical of songs from our state and sent it off (free of charge) to every public elementary school in the state of Arkansas! We are a school with vision, passion and a deep love for music.
Due to budget constraints, I often face challenges in acquiring the necessary resources to fully support my music program. Percussion instruments play a crucial role in introducing students to the fundamentals of rhythm, timing, and ensemble playing. Tubano drums are versatile percussion instruments that are ideal for young learners due to their ease of use and durability. By incorporating tubano drums into my music curriculum, I will be able to captivate my students’ attention, foster collaborative learning, cultivate creativity, and promote cultural awareness. Most of all, my students will have a lot of fun which will bring joy to my music room! Much of the school day for children is spent sitting down. With your help my students will be moving and celebrating music as they use two tubano drums to start DRUMMING UP THE JOY!
