This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love music class! They enjoy learning about rhythms, instruments, music genres, composers, and melodies - but the best part is them singing, moving to music, playing games, and playing instruments. Music isn't just a subject to be learned about, but a subject to experience!

My Project

I am at two schools this year. My second school has hardly any instruments, and I am teaching music on a cart due to the "learning cottage" being condemned.

Please help me put this tubano drum in the hands of my students.

We have been drumming on our desks, but the sound just isn't the same. The techniques of drumming are difficult to teach to students when they don't have the actual drum.

These students soak up everything I teach them about music. When I enter their classroom, the first thing they ask me is "are we going to play instruments today?" I can't teach them instruments if I don't have instruments to bring to them.
