Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are a Title I school and have an amazing drum program. Our students have access to a full drumline of drums. We march around campus like a parade and create a school-spirited environment. At school assemblies, the drumline plays and gets everyone fired up and excited. Since the pandemic, my students have not been able to access instruments in their early learning. Students performing in this class develop teamwork and a great confidence in being in front of people which helps them for future endeavors. This class helps students be ready for high school and teaches them a skill they can use for the rest of their lives. During class using real drums can be a challenge for students to hear instruction. The practice pads will allow my instruction to be heard and student to still have the real feel of playing on a drum.
