About My Students
I am excited to post this project, enthusiastically prepared by Aaron in hopes to add an electronic drum kit to the audio-visual recording studio we are currently in the process of building.
Aaron took the lead on this project as he takes drum lessons outside of school. He decided that it would be a great opportunity for other students to have the same exposure to music as he has. Exposure to musical instruments is not a standard to which most of our students are used to. Aaron saw this gap and decided that we need to change it.
Students will not only have the opportunity to explore the world of musical expression, but they will also gain experience collaborating on audio-visual projects for class, such as podcasts, music videos, documentaries and public service announcements. Developing the understanding of the technical tools required to achieve these outcomes will give students an advantage in their technical-educational pursuits in years to come.
In Their Own Words
I think that we should have an electronic drum kit in our technology classroom so that we can make good beats. We can use it when we make our music videos in the spring and I can help teach other students how to use it.
I can be a leader in this project by helping students to learn to play the drums. I take lessons at home so I know how to take care of the kit and I can give demonstrations when people need them.
This project is important because we can play music and learn to use the drums together. Many of my friends don't take music lessons so they don't know if they are any good at it. They won't know until they try.
