My Students

"Tell me, I forget, show me, I remember, involve me, I understand." - Carl Orff. Involving students in a music ensembles engages them in music, academics, and community service!

My students are creative and highly motivated.

We are a K-5 school that serves over 500 students. We have a wonderfully unique and diverse population with 66% of our students being English Language Learners. We love letting students incorporate their own cultures into their education, and in my classroom, that means by using music!

Our school has a successful ukulele club, choir, and drumline, and my students are hungry for more opportunities to learn!

My Project

Drum circles have been used throughout time to bring people together. I am asking for tubano drums so that my students can create and perform music. I want my students to be able to use drumming to create community and motivate others to remember and use character words and learner traits.

Drums will help students learn about important vocabulary while learning about rhythm in the music classroom.

Many of my students are English Language Learners, and using music has a great impact on their learning. The student groups that my students will be able to form will give students who don't always speak up a voice in our school community!
