My Project
This year, San Francisco Unified School District is working to provide music instruction for every upper elementary student. As part of this mission, I am hoping, in addition to regular wind and string instruments, to also have all my students get involved with drumming and a multitude of rhythms from throughout the world.
Bucket drumming offers a very fun and cost-effective means to getting all my students learning rhythmic coordination together.
Rhythm can often be challenging for students just beginning wind and string instruments. Bucket drumming will allow students to get another perspective on rhythm by breaking it down to its most basic components, before adding the extra challenges of instrument fingerings, embouchure, and breath control.
