This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in high school and are always on the move. When the school bell rings on our campus, 2,300 students rush from one classroom to another. The trek across campus is draining, especially with little access to working water fountains. It’s no wonder my students are always in search of water. I provide at-promise students with academic support after school and they sometimes stay as late as 4:30 pm. With a longer school day comes more needs. Water is one of them. Water is essential to young people's health and well-being, and we want to make it accessible to them.
This year, we need a hydration station!
The water dispenser that dispenses hot and cold water will keep students hydrated and temperature-regulated. The BPA-free, 5-gallon water jug, hygienic closure caps, and hot/cold water dispenser I am requesting will be the most loved addition to our classroom. I can already imagine the joy that this basic necessity will bring to our classroom community. My students thrive on small incentives, so the hot cocoa, apple cider, and tea I am requesting will surely warm their souls and put smiles on their faces while keeping them warm. The stir sticks and caddy will help keep our classroom hydration station clean and organized. With your generous support, these items will help provide for one of our most basic physical needs so students can focus on learning and reaching their full potential.
