Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are faced with a limited classroom library and would greatly benefit from exemplar texts that are aligned to the common core. They need high interest books such as the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series to help foster a love of reading.
My students are from a low socioeconomic area.
They are very energetic and enthusiastic about learning. They are hardworking students who often do not have home support. The new standards will be difficult to teach or implement without the proper resources. With the new books that I have selected I will be able to deliver rigorous and engaging performance tasks to help students achieve a high level of learning.
My Project
My students need access to books the are of a high interest and readability to them. They also need books on a wide variety of topics to help expand their background knowledge. Books series such as Dork Diaries, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Nancy Drew, and the Hardy Boys are all high interest titles that will keep students coming back to the bookshelf to read more. The books that I have chosen are relevant to their curriculum. I also chose a bookcase to store their books and display them nicely.
Most of my students struggle with reading, and I am always looking for great resources to inspire them and encourage them to be motivated life long learners.
They have the potential they just need the resources to be a success.
