My Students

My students live on the outskirts of the largest city in our state. Our neighborhoods border some of the tougher parts of that city. Our state's high schools are known to have some of the lowest graduation rates in the nation, some of our high schools included.

My students are young, bright, and motivated citizens.

They are our nation's future. These students are growing up in a time where they are known as the "digital natives" yet most lack access to new technology. The few times they are given chances to use technology are for taking standardized tests or using a digital math program. They deserve better.

My Project

Over this past year a core group of students have been working to refine their UAV piloting skills. We have learned about altitude, pitch, and yaw. Through the generosity of our global community we have aquired drones as well as the materials to maintain them.

Our students are now ready to take their work to the next level.

We plan to fasten the FPV micro cameras to our drones and use the FPV goggles to link to the camera feed. This will put our students in the cockpit helping us to develop hand eye coordination. This is the first step in our dream of starting a micro drone racing league for our students.
