My students need drone building kits so they can learn how to build and operate drones and be ready for the future job market.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are tactile learners who need the satisfaction of creating things with their hands. They enjoy the idea of making things, and their curiosity guides them in their desire of wanting to know how things around them are made, how they work, and how they can fix them.
Most of my students come from an industrial area of Brooklyn, and will likely find jobs that require specific, industrial skills.
My goal is to help them explore these skills earlier on in their lives so they can enjoy the experience of learning.
My Project
A recent article in the Atlantic magazine focused on the importance of bringing drone education into schools, especially underfunded urban schools where students struggle just to be prepared for their future. With automation in full steam, drones and drone related technology will be in more demand than ever, and I want to prepare my students for that future.
My students are curious builders.
They like to take things apart, observe things, and try to build them on their own. Their curiosity is encouraged in my Makers Club, where they can learn how to make anything, as long as they persist and never give up.
I want to get drone building kits for my students, so they can learn how to build drones, learn how they operate, and have fun in the process. I have requested two types of drone building kits, a simple basic model, and a more advanced model with a camera. My hope is that these kits will give my students an introduction to more serious drones. I have also requested a pre-built drone, which the students can observe, take apart, and see how the drone operates.
