My Project
In today’s world, preparing students for the future means equipping them with problem-solving, collaboration, and tech skills—starting early. That’s why I’m excited to bring Sphero Indi cars into my second-grade classroom! These screen-free, kid-friendly robots introduce my students to the foundations of coding through hands-on exploration. My goal is to make STEM learning engaging, accessible, and fun, and the Indi cars provide the perfect on-ramp. With these little robots, my students can build mazes, program directions using colored tiles, and watch their code come to life—all while developing critical thinking and persistence.
Many of my students have limited exposure to technology beyond tablets, and few see themselves represented in the STEM world.
The beauty of Sphero Indi is that it levels the playing field. It doesn’t require reading, screens, or prior experience—just curiosity and creativity. Students of all backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities can participate equally. By giving them the chance to be inventors, designers, and engineers, I’m helping them see that STEM is for everyone. These experiences are especially powerful for my students of color, who often don’t see themselves in tech-centered careers. I want my classroom to change that narrative—one color tile at a time.
With Sphero Indi cars, I envision a learning space where every child feels empowered to explore and innovate. Students will work together to solve challenges, celebrate mistakes, and develop grit. Beyond that, they’ll begin to see themselves as future scientists, creators, and coders—regardless of their race or background. Representation starts with opportunity, and I want to give my students the tools to dream big. This project will not only build STEM skills—it will build confidence, community, and a belief in what’s possible. Your support helps us drive toward a future where all students see themselves in the driver’s seat.
