Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have amazingly resilient students who come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds. For many of my students, school is their safe place; they are excited to come to school and learn how to be a valued member of society. They are gaining confidence, finding their purpose, and treating others with respect and empathy. This year we have implemented restorative practices and circles school wide. I have also been researching and incorporating several Social and Emotional Learning strategies on my own.

My Project

We are trying to promote healthy lifestyles! Many of our students get headaches throughout the day because they are not drinking enough water. The drinking fountain water gets hot and is often broken due to construction and busted pipes. I would love for every student to have a reusable bottle so I can supply them with water in class.

By making students earn incentive stickers for personalization, they take pride in their water bottles.

The window mural will cover the unsightly bars on our windows. This should create a more relaxing environment for students.
