I teach a group of 25 students with special needs ranging in grades from 2nd-5th grade.
My students' disabilities range from Autism to Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, ADHD, and many others in between. These students learn in different ways and paper/pencil tasks do not motivate them. We do a lot of hands-on, interactive learning where the students become a part of what they are learning about in order to fully understand the concepts and meet all of their IEP goals. All of my students' special needs mean that they need extra help with math.
My Project
My students use dry erase markers every day for numerous different projects, and because of that we are running very low in them at this time of the year. We have gone through so many of them and now they are almost all dried out. The students become much stronger problem solvers when they are able to show their work and have "brain dumps" where they are able to get everything written down. They are able to do this so well with dry erase markers and dry erase boards, and are very excited to show their learning in this way. However, at this point in the year-we don't have nearly enough dry erase markers left.
