This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a Pre-K through fifth grade elementary school in New York City. Our school is located in one of the poorest congressional districts in the nation. Many of my students live in nearby public housing or are from single-parent homes.
Many of my first grade students have special needs, are repeating a grade, or are struggling academically to achieve grade-level expectations.
They need essential resources to maximize learning opportunities to ensure they do their best work every day.
My Project
Being 'Dressed for Success' is more than just the latest buzzword. It is important for my students to come to school ‘Dressed for Success' in uniforms that are clean, without spot or wrinkle.
Not only are many of my students experiencing homelessness, or living in shelters, the socioeconomic struggles faced by my students' parents and families often make it difficult for them them to wash their child's uniforms regularly.
When my students are dressed appropriately for school, they are able to focus on learning and academic success. With this in mind, wearing a clean school uniforms can build their self-esteem and minimize teasing or bulling for wearing soiled or smelly uniforms. Soiled and smelly clothing may make them a target for bullying by their peers. Being bullied because their parents lack the resources to purchase laundry detergent/fabric softener should not be a concern for them. With your help, each of my students will have a bag of laundry detergent and fabric softener to eliminate odors and to ensure their school uniforms are clean, wrinkle, and spot free. With a clean school uniform each of my students will be able to enter school proudly wearing a clean school uniform, knowing they are "Dressed for Success."
With your help, my students will have clean school uniforms so they can come to school, do their best work, and focus on success. Please support our classroom project and help my students come to school every day "Dressed for Success".
