This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
All of our school population receives free and reduced-price lunches (Title 1) and my children come from a high-poverty background. Many of my students come to school anxious, upset, sad, and worried. I try to make my classroom a safe haven for them to be children and nothing more. My students are kind, loving and adore learning with their whole hearts. When you walk into our room you will hear a gentle hum of learning with a side of laughter and fun.
My Project
Our students are required to come to school in uniform- red shirt, navy bottoms and a belt. Many of my students come from households that cannot afford more than one uniform so students wear the same uniform every day, many times stained or smelling. I am requesting new uniform pieces to give to students that are not able to afford one or two uniforms for the school year. These uniforms will also be kept to be given to students that have an accident during the school year. No student should have to stay home because they are unable to find proper clothing and I hope to remedy that!
