My Project
I teach high school wood and metal shop as well as Jr High technology and STEM. We use many tools, large and small. The Dremel is nice as it can be used in so many ways. Our main use is detailed wood carving and sanding. It can be used to cut wood, plastic, and metals. Projects like cooking spoons and sanding/trimming CNC projects are the most common usage.
The Dremel is a high speed versatile rotary tool that gets used almost daily in one form or another.
We have two Dremel tools currently, both have been here longer than I have. One does not work and the other is held together by duct tape!
Another reason I like the Dremel tools are they are less intimating to newer shop students. They are small but powerful tools that definitely will always have a space on my shop bench.
