This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I've been sponsoring the Shakespeare Club (in conjunction with some colleagues) at my school for the past 16 years. In the past, I've always purchased costumes out of pocket. While we do have access to some costumes at our school (mostly from past personal donations) and access to the communal DPS costume basement, I wanted to give our kids this year a special treat with new fairy costumes.

In all my years of directing we've never had so many kids sign up for Shakespeare Club; around 60 this year.

I have a huge group where each part is double cast, which leaves me with 21 fairies, 2 Pucks and 2 Bottoms to clothe (for just my group).

The arts are important for our students. It's so cool to be a part of their introduction to the stage and I invite you to be a part of it with me this year!
