This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are exposed to a literacy-rich environment in my classroom. They really enjoy the reading and writing that we do every day in our class.
I work with a diverse group of students at a gifted magnet middle school.
I teach English. My students range from gifted, high achieving students, to students with special needs, and those who struggle academically. They differ in socioeconomic status and which neighborhoods they live in, which makes for very diverse classes.
My students strive to achieve success every day. They work hard to improve their skills and are an amazing group of youth to work with.
My Project
The Chromebooks will make a huge impact on the lives of my students. With such a wide range of student ability levels, it is important for me as a teacher to ensure that I am supplying my students with materials that meet their needs. Using the computers in my classroom allows me the flexibility of giving each student access to independent text that is at their level while making grade-level content accessible to all students.
Students are excited to use the computers to research topics of interest and to share their thoughts and ideas about important issues.
They are more engaged in their learning and take responsibility for being citizens who are informed and a part of changing the world for the better.
