Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For this project, students will create dream catchers as symbols of hope, protection, and kindness. Each student will craft a dream catcher using materials like hoops, thread, beads, charms, and feathers. After learning about the cultural significance of dream catchers and emphasizing respect for their Native American origins, students will design their dream catchers.

The completed dream catchers will be gifted to members of our local community: senior citizens in nursing homes, first responders, and others who could use a reminder that they are cared for.

Students will also attach handwritten notes of encouragement and kindness to each dream catcher.

Through this project, students will see firsthand how their creativity and compassion can bring joy and kindness to others. They will learn that even small gestures can have a significant impact — and that kindness, like dreams, can be passed from one person to another.
