Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are ones who define the word resiliency. They live in low socioeconomic communities, which results in limited access to resources; however this does not have a negative effect on their abilities intellectually, socially, or inter-personally.
We take all of the bad and turn it into good.
The challenges my students face on a daily basis give them a unique view of the world. We overcome these challenges together, at least for the moment, through our classrooms ability to work as one community.
My Project
I want to make a space in the classroom that is dedicated to the joy of reading. The space will be comfortable, warm, and filled with a variety of books. It will be set apart from the rest of the classroom in order to increase the students desire to read. Not only will the library be inspiring, but well organized to build a sense of ownership for the students.
I want it to be a space where the students look forward to coming on a daily basis.
These are big dreams with big items, but I am excited to create this space for my students!
