My Students

I love my students for their resilience and strength; the ability to cultivate and navigate their way through situations and obstacles; and the ability to use what they have to create, problem-solve, or tackle a challenge.

I love that my students will take on challenges with optimism and when faced with obstacles, they will find creative ways to solve them, even with the most limited resources.

My students are optimistic about learning and curious about new ideas, innovations, and concepts. I love that they find ways to create beauty from oftentimes tragic situations and personal disappointments.

My Project

Students will begin many of the social-emotional-based projects in class but are encouraged to take them home to share with their families by working on or completing them. Oftentimes, family members are encouraged to participate in the art process by contributing information, aiding in drawing or coloring, and/or decorating. For example, when students create their dream boards, families support them by cutting out or drawing pictures to add to their boards. As students and families work together, their bonds are strengthened by conversations and time spent together.
