My Students

Do you remember your favorite book? The characters? The details that made you want to share it with everyone? Imagine the possibilities your child could reach given the opportunity to explore books based on their individual interests!

My students range between the age of 6 to 9 years old.

They are outgoing, extrinsic learners with a love for knowledge! A lot of my students do not have access to quality literature outside the classroom. My school is a Title I school that serves approximately 650 students ranging in grades PreK to 5th grade.

My Project

My students need a variety of early readers, I Can Read and All Aboard Science Readers - Nonfiction, to choose from. The students in my class sometime struggle with finding books that interest them. One of the most important things I want to teach my students is how to pick books that are "just right" for them. Every child is different and has different needs and interests. As early readers and developing readers I believe the best way to facilitate a love of learning is to provide them with a variety of books that will excite and open their eyes to world of possibilities.

By receiving the donated books I will be able to supply our classroom library with a variety of genres.

These books will also provide level appropriate books that emergent readers will be successful using. Everyday my students have an hour block where they practice reading silently, aloud, and to a partner. This book request will allow students an opportunity to choose books based on their interests.
