When I'm teaching my students, nothing is more important to me because they are great kids. I want to give them the best education possible, but we are always facing an economic gap with resources. My students are living in families that face extreme poverty and have to cope with a violent neighborhood. Ninety-nine percent of my students are on the free lunch program. The students are the best and willing to take on any challenges that are put in front of them.
This year is going strong, and we need all the supplies we can get our hands on.
They have their challenges, but love to come to school every day with smiles on their faces and warmth in their hearts. They are really great people that I love working with.
This project is designed to get my students a high definition drawing computer so they can explore more professional technology while learning to be better story tellers. We are trying to get students a Wacom tablet so they can make high-definition images and use them in reflection videos they make at the end of class.
Students are being asked to compare and contrast their work.
To evaluate the work of their peers, and to critique the work of professional artist using Visual Thinking Strategies. All of this is to promote higher order thinking and increase depth of knowledge. This project aims to further engage the students in the making and telling of their own reflections through digital storytelling.
We currently do not have the processing power to make digital stories in a timely manner.
