My students need drawing books and examples of a range of graphic novels in order to publish a graphic novel of their own that tackles STEAM concepts presented in school.

My Students
My students are from all over Brooklyn and even a handful from as far as Staten Island. They have diverse learning styles and many are alternatively assessed, meaning that they participate with adapted curricula and assessments.
Many of my students come from less than ideal economic circumstances but they have a lot of heart and enjoy learning when it relates to their experience.
Help me provide them with educational experiences with which they can develop the confidence and character they need to succeed.
My Project
Having access to examples of a variety visual arts books, drawing guides and art materials will allow us to develop graphic novel style representations of concepts from our STEAM curriculum that we can then share with our peers.
Our goal is to take the information that we are learning in Math, Science, Technology, Social Studies and Art and represent those understandings in this contemporary visual arts medium of the graphic novel, or comic.
This project will make a difference in my students' lives by increasing their motivation in math and science, empowering them to see what they can achieve on their own, and unlocking hidden talents. At the end of the unit, we will publish the collective works of the students in a graphic novel style compilation and each student will get their own copy!
